A revisit for me, DD's 70th pillar turned out to be a damaged, decapitated wreck, sat forgotten amongst the long grass of No Mow May and courting teenagers. At least the flush bracket has survived the vandalism. Parking and access still very straightforward.

Parked on Harley Road and walked up. What can only be described as a desolate decapitated pillar base sits miserably in the middle of some playing fields/public parkland. Presumably vandalism has done for this one, and as previous logs, you wonder how long it will be before this is put out of its misery and removed. There's an old beer can stuck down the centre, and the flush bracket is also knackered. A very sad state of affairs.

(1342) Parked up on Harley Road, and from there it was a short walk to the pillar. Reading previous logs, this one has been subjected to periodical vandalism, but it's only in the last three years or so that the damage has become severe. Due to it's woeful condition it makes you wonder for how much longer it will remain in place, before the decision is made to get rid of it completely. A shame. Only the bottom half of pillar remains now. Beer can jammed down the centre pipe. No graffiti surprisingly, and still with it's FB. Pillar history: Built on the 23rd of January 1947, at a cost of £5 17s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1986.

Revisit after a long while. Given the urban surroundings, its disappointing but not entirely surprising to see the damage inflicted. The top third of the pillar has gone, with more likely to follow. One large fragment of concrete on the ground. Brick/stone interior exposed. Spider gone, centre pipe battered. Flush bracket still intact and oddly theres no graffiti. Someone round here doesn't like trigs :(

Cap missing. Top spalling. Bits missing from side. Has a view back to Bramley Reservoir pillar (TP1579), and it appears that the whole front wall of the reservoir has been removed and is currently being recast. Only time will tell if that pillar survives.

Heading back to Haworth having spent a day circling Leeds and visiting the local trig population. Took a few minutes to locate in the maze of local roads, but knew I was getting close when I met muddy footballers walking up road. A top of bank by sports pitches. Clouds now closing in again and light becoming poor, so decided to call it a day after 10 ticks, and miss the last two possibles - there'll be there for another time!

Not a log (visited this one 5 years ago) but to note the lightning strike which hit a willow tree close to the pillar on this day, (well-documented elsewhere). Staying in Scott Street at the time, just 1 km away. The explosion was awesome !

Easy bag accessed from S. Trig on open playing fields, no hassle. I was pleasantly surprised with the view not bad up Airedale, and down towards Ferrybridge and over Troydale, Bramley res. Not so familiar with West Leeds being from Ackworth. Trig has missing plug, v slight damage but signs of fire have now gone and Hough Top trig pillar lives on proudly...

Log #19. (130m). Logged on 6.4km trig walk from here to Beulah Farm then Upper Moor Side, via Troydale. Some steep gradients, nice urban views, woodland and farmland. Pillar has missing plug and FB is almost buried.

Visited in the snow while looking for a spot for a new geocache , cache now hidden in view of the trig ref no. GC225KQ Hough Top. Great views of Leeds from here as others have said there are scorch marks on the pillar.

An easy find, but a sorry looking trig. Looks like it might have been the middle of a bonfire. The plate is scorched and there are singe marks up the sides and some of the concrete has fallen off. It might not last too much longer if it keeps being treated like this.

Parked in residential estate and walked up into playing field. Easy to find - not far from Pudsey centre and the nearest trig to where our younger family members live. The pillar has taken some battering and soil around the base has built up over time.

Another rec ground trig surrounded by housing. Good condition and plenty of parking. residents are far less prone to vandalising trigs than sheffield

Easily found and in surprisingly good condition given proximity of habitation. The pillar is set lower than most with the flush bracket at ground level. FB was partially obscured by a pile of dog muck (one point lost) and therefore unable to confirm number.

Set in amongst urban sprawl next to the school playing fields. Trigs OK, looking a little past it's best - greying and rounding at the edges - but no great physical damage. Done on a Cottingley to Bramley (railway) station to station walk. Gets 1 extra point for simply still being there.
