Easily accessed woodland location, though it took a bit of searching to find the trig. (Made a note before setting out that it's behind a tree. This wasn't helpful.) It's still in the wrong place, still toppled, and still covered with moss rather than metalwork, but its horizontal aspect and mossy covering made it a comfortable place to sit and rest!

Parked along Sandy Hill Road to the SW of the trig, then walked along the track to the trig. Trig is covered in moss, the face where the FB used to be is facing upwards, front, left & right sightholes open, rear sighthole facing the ground so couldn't see it. I left a 2p coin in the left sighthole for the next visitor to find. Also walked a bit further up the hill to the buried block, where the trig pillar used to stand.

This took some finding. Parked at Rowhill Nature Reserve to NE and then followed paths up through trees - top of hill very lumpy and as I was reliant only on the website map it took me an age to get my bearings among the myriad of paths. Eventually found the concrete pillar where the TP used to stand and after a bit more trial and error found the toppled dead TP covered in moss behind a tree. Rather sad and forlorn but woods full of birdsong.

Just about to give up on this one when spotted it cunningly camouflaged in the undergrowth. Two heavy branches had fallen across its green moss coat - moved them with some difficulty. Pillar remains as described by previous visitors. The trees were at their gorgeous autumnal best today - fine walk in an Army training area, but 'all quiet on all fronts.'

It's nice to visit these pillars though, like Wincobank near Sheffield, as they pre-date the OS 1994 list and are still hanging on there. Apparently this one was destroyed in 1966 and it's FB no was S5548. The height value I have for it is 171 metres.
