3rd of 3 trigs today. This retrospective log is in March 2024 and surprised its the latest entry! A fair few tussocks at the summit which was quite challenging. Lovely views. This is the route I took https://fabulousnorth.com/hungry-law-trig-point/ .All on PROW's / access land. About 4.2 miles return. Humid 18 oc temperature today. Spider missing.

Started from lay bye on A68 approaching on forest tracks to Harry Pike but at this point for some reason decided to continue on track till reaching the Border fence near Greyhound Law. We crossed the fence and walk west along the forest edge on a quad bike track all the way towards the trig, not easy. The path back to Harry's Pike is not that well defined but is a better route. The view from Hungry law is stunning.

Mixed weather today for a hack up the road, through the forest, across the tussocks and via a few bogs to reach the trig. Good views across England and Scotland. There and back in about 2 hours - 5 and a half miles in total.

My second visit, different route. From Chew Green along Pennine Way then Border Ridge, returned back along border ridge diverting S up Ogre Hill and W along Harden Edge. This is a great hill, with viable approaches from the N, S, E & W! Before I'm too old & knackered I'll do all 4! A very early start today as had to be at work at midday, caught the sunrise at Coquethead, bit of frost underfoot, mostly clear blue skies, views stunning.

Parked at Forest View Inn. The OS map indicates this as a youth hostel. The route up to Hungry Law is an easy journey through the forest albeit the bridleways as marked on map no longer exist. This pillar commands great views. Shame the clouds and drizzle limited our opportunity to look at the surrounding hills. Our first of 2 trigs today. The other being Dour Hill. Ensure you allocate plenty time to do both these trigs. Still a worthy high value grade.

A lovely walk in from the north, took minor road from Hownam to just beyond Upper Hindhope and walked south past Fairloans across a couple of pasture fields before steady climb up rough moorland to the cairn of Phillip's Cross on Catcleugh Hill and followed the border ridge from there, and back via Greyhound Hill. If you want to try this approach to the TP, note that the path shown on the map between Fairloans to The Heart's Toe up Willowhawk Burn exists more in the imagination of the cartographer than the experience of the hillwalker...Terrific views in all directions, we saw considerably more of the top of Deadwater Moor than we saw on the top of Deadwater Moor four days earlier!
