From Chew Green after bagging Greyhound Law. Generally good paths and tracks. Weather was cloudy but visibility was good.

A lovely walk in from the north, took minor road from Hownam to just beyond Upper Hindhope and walked south past Fairloans across a couple of pasture fields before steady climb up rough moorland to the cairn of Phillip's Cross on Catcleugh Hill and followed the border ridge from there, and back via Greyhound Hill. If you want to try this approach to the TP, note that the path shown on the map between Fairloans to The Heart's Toe up Willowhawk Burn exists more in the imagination of the cartographer than the experience of the hillwalker...Terrific views in all directions, we saw considerably more of the top of Deadwater Moor than we saw on the top of Deadwater Moor four days earlier!

Followed the border fence from Carter Bar, easy going across tussocky grass and quad tracks. Took a detour to Lumsdon Law via Leap Hill on the way back.

Walked up from valley (same way as Clochandighter), via forest track then vague quad bike track across fairly dry moorland. Didn't risk the trudge from Carter Bar in view of recent very wet weather. As other have noted the pillar is on the Scottish side of the border fence, but listed as being in England. Great views across into Scotland and up to a snow-covered Cheviot.

Second visit. For GPS reading and up to date photographs. Approached from SSE. Parked in layby on NE side of A68 at NT760030. Mapped RoW leads all the way to summit although the track is the easier option and now cuts (unmapped) the long loop at NT750040. From NT748047 the path is non continuous on the ground but the correct beeline should pass all the necessary fence crossings with ladders. Grazing top. Pillar stands northeast of boundary fence. Column in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces SSE, ~161. Vented through NE sight hole. Full 360 panoramic view includes; Carter Bar, Rubers Law, Eildon Mid Hill, Philip Law, Dirrington Great Law, Hownam Law, Cheviot, Hedgehope Hill.panoramic view includes; Carter Bar, Rubers Law, Eildon Mid Hill, Philip Law, Dirrington Great Law, Hownam Law, Cheviot, Hedgehope Hill.
