Found this whilst doing the RAF Hunsdon Geocaches. Followed the footpath around the back of the glider club to this one and popped my head through the trees to try and spot it. Squeezed through and managed to get to the trig.

Parked in the village but be warned, the locals are a bit ‘precious’ about their perceived parking rights. Anyway, I then ambled along the footpath to the corner of Black Hut Wood and then down behind the flying club to the pillar, just inside the wood. As has already been mentioned, the flush bracket has been chiselled out and the centre plug has been replaced with tarmac. Apart from that, the pillar appears to be sound enough. No views from inside the wood but the view south from the flying club is pleasant enough. There’s an interesting memorial in front of the flying club with the remains of a propeller on top. I didn’t go over to it as there were some flying bods hovering about but the two plaques that I could see commemorate The Royal Canadian Air Force and The Royal Australian Air Force. Possibly they flew from this airfield during the war.

Was hoping to drive up to this but road I picked to the south west was blocked off so walked the 1.2km along the footpath. Looks like the area around the airfield has recently been used for clay pigeon shooting as loads of broken orange clays lying in the recently ploughed field. Trig nice & easy to find following previous logs. FB hacked out and cap replaced with tarmac cap

Another little visited SE TP. Followed footpath through rape field from Hunsdon, and then by edge of small airfield. A light aircraft was being worked on very near the point where access into the - dense - woodland was required. TP not far into the wood; concrete plug, and FB been removed but otherwise in goood condition, but no view. Not a very exciting TP for what I consider my 50th.
