Having called at the farm to find nothing but barking sheepdogs I parked in the double gateway at the bend in the road due East and wandered up via two fields and two gates. The trig is on the ramparts but tucked further in than the OS 1:50,000 suggests. With the trees in full Summer mantle there were no views to be had but it's a cool and pleasant spot on a very hot day.

Called at Castle Farm, Mrs Farmer very amenable, directing me up through her garden and under the washing. Pillar sits in the NE corner of an IA hillfort retaining an original cap, indented lettering. Marginal views through leafless trees.

Saw the Farmer from castle Farm who said it was a permissive path but the gate was all nailed up, so we had to climb three Gates with Difficulty. parked just up the road N of the path. worth it in the end to reach the trig . this is one for Dave Johnson

I parked at the un-named farm to the north where I received permission and directions to the pillar. Basically straight up a hedgeline from the farm through a gate at the top and then climb the ramparts to reach the pillar. Everything in good condition and retains an original plug. A somewhat enclosed location but still a nice area.

vgc, no cap or plug. Decent hillfort, mature Beeches. Permissive path from NNE, with a boggy start.

There is a permissive footpath from the bend in the road to the north east. Nice small hillfort (could it have been a holiday home for Iron Age man)? Plug with indented lettering.
