Missed the path up to this one and finished up bashing my way up the bankside to be met by a wide, muddy track at the top. At least going down is going to be easier. A dodgy couple up here with even more dodgy looking dogs so didn't hang around.

Log #205. 5 minute round trip from corner of Faskin Road, a little bit muddy after this morning's rain. Pillar is still being used as a landing beacon for extraterrestrial invaders (presumably). ET has nicked the cap though, and will no doubt study it in an attempt to learn more about our species (probably). [ExP-164/MiP-7/Rev-2/BM-12/IS-17/Other-3]

Walked by this trig regularly for years, nowadays my post Sunday dinner digestion walk but this is the first time I've properly logged it. Walked up from the north, Bullwoods direction. Trig has seen better days but good location. Nice sunset to the west towards a silhouetted Paisley. Extra point for simply being bais. NB. As you can see in my pic from 1985, the trig has always been a graffiti magnet. (See RogerTempleman's log) . . . Preferred the Alien ! ! ! :( See pics Hurlethill. Alien 1 and 2. Took 11/07/2012.

Hopped over a fence off the main road to the south. (good tree for locking bike). A short brambly woodland led to a vast area of unused open land. Although obvious ned usage, an attractive spot. Pillar has had a battering though.

Second visit. For GPS reading and photographs. SITE VISIT: Approached from east. Short walk from Faskin Road. Open wasteland but nice setting. Pillar in good condition. spider centre open. Flush bracket faces northwest, ~305 NW. Vented through NW and NE sight holes.

Good condition pillar at top of Hurlet Hill. Easy to reach via nearby housing estate with path straight up to the pillar. Spider intact, no cap, couple of sightholes open, but clogged. Remarkably litter-free given other posts. Artificially high score due to awesome views on a beautiful sunny day (this could be summer today!). Can see Harelaw Mount, Saucel Hill, Cowglen, Cathkin...etc. Intervisibility is amazing from here. Glorious.

Trig 11 of 13 for the day. First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed in December 1945 costing 7.8s.0d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T23 in the Glasgow secondary block. Flush bracket S3593 was levelled for height in 1968. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1971.
