While staying at Charney Manor Quaker retreat centre, ten miles to the SW. RoW in Cumnor hill to the north along with all the dog walkers. I met a Great Dane and a delightful staffy looking dog with deep golden Labrador coat so suspect that it was a lab/staffy cross. Up the north path to the woodland trig with number S3700 and with lots of broom that was doubtless glorious in its yellow radiance, back in the summer and whose black open seed pods had recently scattered their future generations to the winds.

I frequently do training runs up to Cumnor Hurst and the trigpoint but I haven't bothered to log every visit as nothing much changes. Anyway, I've been nursing a minor injury these last few months and so today's run was the first for a while. However, a shock awaited me this afternoon. Some deforestation has taken place. As a result the path up to the top is now a wide, muddy track and there is now even a reasonableish view southwestwards. I assume the trig itself is unthreatened, although the gorse surrounding it has been cleared. I don't know about others but I much prefer this one's surroundings the way they were.
