Parked in NT car park and enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods to my first brick-built trig pillar. There's a nice woodland view from the pillar, and the hill on which it's sited also contains a large concrete memorial seat, which provided a much-needed place for me to rest, having bagged eight pillars today. The hilltop is also dotted with hatches and chimneys from a reservoir, which almost makes it look like fairies and goblins live here - especially with the word 'goblin' graffiti-ed onto one of the hatches. There's a brick-built cairn along the track to the car park which looks a bit like this trig (but clearly isn't one). I wonder why it's there...

Hydons Ball - Once again up here for May Day sunrise and the Morris dancers. A lot more clearance of the scrub around the sandy top of the hill (mainly to the north of the trig point) has been done since 2018. Top of hill has an extensive underground water reservoir and it seems to be connected with this. Still good extensive views to south since the earlier tree clearance on the southern slope of the hill.

Mostly went along road to got to this one. Only when i got to Marepond Farm did I go onto BWs. Again rather difficult to cycle along because of the sandy soil. Trig is made out of rocks. and has damage on one corner but that dosent spoil it much as it has good views and a big stone sofa in memory of Octavia Hill. She was a Victorian advocate for social housing and had nothing to do with Skoda. Coming back down was difficult as well as some of the BWs had been washed away. Then back to car as this was planed to be my last for today.

The track from the car park starts of at a gentle climb, but don't be fooled. The path to the top of the hill turns off from this and suddenly climbs very steeply. The pillar appears to be constructed from stone blocks rather than the usual cast concrete, which is unusual for this part of the country. One corner at the top has been chipped off, hence the 'slightly damaged' rating. As well as the pillar, the top of the hill has a number of hatches which give access to an underground reservior. Also, the is a large stone seat which is a memorial to Octavia Hill, one of the founders of the National Trust.
