(53) Parked opposite St Andrew's church in Irby upon Humber, and crossed over the A46 to the PRoW on the other side. Followed that through some glorious countryside; Rolling hills and fields, chalk cliffs, cows grazing, rabbits and pheasants aplenty, and 5 or 6 deers running through the woods, all added to the enjoyment. Very popular route as dog walkers, mountain bikers, and joggers passed me at regular intervals. Takes a good 30/40 minutes to get to the pillar. Which is visible, due to it being painted brilliant white, as soon as you exit Irby Dales Wood. The trig looks well maintained and cared for. The hedge around it has been shaped so as not to enclose it. So, a fantastic walk, and a good looking pillar earns this a 9/10. REVISIT: 23.4.19 Decent evening, so thought I'd check this one out again (got a GR for it this time as well). An enjoyable walk to the pillar as always. A real favourite of mine. Pillar history: Built on the 27th of May 1939, at a cost of 4 9s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1987.

8 Points for the brightest white trig point I have seen ever. We walked from Irby Village on R.O.W to a point north of trig then use field boundaries towards trig point. It has just had another coat of paint, somebody is really looking after this one.

After a pleasant afternoon's walk in the Wolds with a friend, but nowhere near a TP I had not logged, I decided to "plug a gap" on the way home. This is 5th nearest my home and has a clear view of the Humber bank factory where I used to work. Reached via the footpath from Riby Grove Farm on the A1173, a road spoiled by the tanker traffic from the Immingham refineries. GR to 10m only.

After getting permission from Swallow Vale Farm to visit this one I walked up the track over the fields. I was impressed by the hedgerows that have been left in enabling the wildlife to have a corridor between the attractive woods in the area.
