Parked at the Ferry Inn and found the overgrown footpath next to the Inn's fence. Had to be careful of the numerous rabbit holes as we headed for the Trig. Great views of The Swale

Bagged as YSM0743 Isle of Harty. Mr U2 had a system for our YOSM list, where YOSMs where coloured red, amber or green. Green meant (to me!) roadside or less than 500m on a track, so we didn't need to allow time to get to and from it, e.g. takes no more than 15 minutes. This was green! Should have been amber, took track from hotel where a wedding was taking place down to the shore line, followed the shore line and then had to head up to the correct contour line through the jaggies up to the trig point, back via the same route (although we did investigate if we could cut through the inn and gatecrash the wedding but it was all fenced off). Spotted the happy couple getting photos done on the shoreline. I think this was where time started to slip away from us as this one was out of the way and we now had to drive all the way round to the other side of the inlet. #4 day#1 15:22 already!

Arrived at parking and noticed a wedding taking place at the hotel. Walked down the track and then along wee deer tracks until we were back up through jaggies and along to the pillar. Great views and we could see the happy couple down at the shore getting their wedding photos done. Cheers.

Parked in The Ferry Inn car park and wandered along, initially on a RoW then along field boundary. Nice spot with impressive views S & W across The Swale. The old ferry jetties can be clearly seen either side of the channel. Original top cap has been retained, deeply indented lettering; rear sight hole open. Sheppey was once 3 islands: Sheppey, Elmley and Harty, each have a trig pillar.

Parked at The Ferry Inn, then along to footpath near the river slipway, along footpath to top gate then along scrubby area at top of river bank - pillar is in good condition and looks out over the Swale a very remote area for this part of South East.

Don't attempt to access this one via the Harty ferry from Oare as it stopped running years ago. We approached it from the Ferry landing (with the assistance of two local trig point guides, Julie and Gaby, fron Faversham) but the route was quite overgrown. Saw a marsh harrier on the way back to the main road. Good views of North Kent. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

This pillar looks out across the Swale waterway at the north Kent coast from the Isle of Sheppey. Pillar in good condition. On a warm day this is a lovely walk along from the Ferryman Inn. Today, however, it was icy cold and blowing a NE gale off the North Sea!
