The area near the trig has been taken over by a Company called SKAO who are building the world’s largest two telescopes to be built and placing them in Australia and South Africa and are very touchy about letting people wander about the grounds so I was refused permission to enter. Got within about 30/40m but no visual view. The rest of the visit was interesting so not a wasted visit.

Some very bad news to report. When I sought permission from the couple that run Bridge Farm to access the pillar from their land, they advised me that they can no longer see it from their land, and that they believe that the pillar may have been removed by Manchester University, the owners of Jodrell Bank. Moreover, as Manchester University own Bridge Farm and all of the land that comes with it, visitors are no longer allowed to view the pillar (or ex-pillar) from the farm. Will be contacting Jodrell Bank for answers.

She asked that I did not climb over the fence into the Jodrell Bank complex as there have been complaints. As much as I wanted to climb over to take a FB photo I complied with the request so as not to jeopardise future visits. Made do with looking at the top of the pillar.

Forget trying and failing at Jodrell Bank. Use little yellow road immediately to the south west, turn right ( east) just before road goes under railway to the farmyard, parking in the farmers yard by the house and asking permission. Although very muddy farmyard, easy peasy as its right on the boundary right up against the fence just in J B territory and easy to hop over the fence to photograph the flush bracket that is facing the offices....doing it that way without bothering Jodrell bank where you're likely to get disappointment. I was surprised this was so easy and stumbled across trying this ironically having gone down the wrong road trying to access Jodrell Bank site from the south. My solution here is by far the best option going.

He went and fetched his colleague from the nearby and smaller of the two telescopes, who he said knew about what I needed. The second man, fropm the engineering staff, took me to the pillar on foot. Now sited in new hedgerow; field to West and new research buildings for Square Kilometre Array a few feet to East across lawn. in good condition and plug intact.
