We visited this trig point during lock down with corona virus. This is among one of the nearest trig points within walking distance from our house. Once you get passed the fragrant aroma of the dump it is a fairly pleasant walk. Once at the trig point we were rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view from the Noup of Noss, the North of Bressay, Skerries, Whalsay, Gletness and the Moull of Eswick.

Dirt layby at bend in road to SW. Easy walking over roughish and damp in places pasture. Pillar retains an original centre cap, raised lettering; LHS sight hole open. Extensive sea and landscape views despite only 33m of elevation.

I parked at HU 4646 4586 in a parking area just off the minor road below Luggie's Knowe. I then set out on a VERY wet and windy walk across undulating sheep-grazed moorland to reach the pillar. FB faces SSE; WSW sighthole partially open, others plugged; original top with raised letters. Virtually no views from here thanks to the thick rainy conditions, although in theory the replacement for Rova Head Lighthouse (TP9656) is visible from here!

Condition regarded as good although perhaps a shade off the vertical - would need to have a spirit level to be certain. Noticeable different amounts of lichen on the 4 sides. Weather windy and wet so distant views were poor in all directions so score of only 5 on this visit.

The Ness makes for light relief after driving past the industrial end of Lerwick. Good views of Bressay and Isles of Gletness. Luggies Knowe, opposite the pull off, is the safest bet I have ever seen in Shetland for a trowie place. Beware!

Quick trip out to this one after a visit to Lerwick. Some sun but strong wind. Point is visible from road and is a 20 min walk. Great views including Lerwick
