DD & I enjoyed a lovely day out today, but the climb straight upwards from Mytholmroyd station onto Sheep Stones Edge was an absolute killer. As someone mentioned, it is almost 1000ft of unrelenting ascent straight uphill, via criss-crossing ROWs and roads. With a 7-year-old in tow and the blazing sun beating down... the trig appeared like a mirage on the horizon. Pillar is covered in thick, gleaming white paint, but this has obscured the spider and flush bracket and disguised a fairly big chunk missing from a top edge. Sensational views though, in every direction - it's a cracking trig, on access land so very straightforward. Pillar #75 for my little adventure girl. We headed down into Hebden Bridge for refreshments and the train home.

Good views in all directions and a sea of brown heather covering the moorland into the distance. Trig has a few small chips to the top and the recent paint is now starting to weather.
