Caught afternoon bus from Stranraer to Portpatrick to walk back on Southern Uplands Way as far as Big Plantation before cutting back into Stranraer. Gate from lane to reach trig via rough and intermittant ATV track.

After a walk down to the lighthouse I walked up the road to just below the hill, next to the wee white house. Then onto boggy hillside to the trigpoint. Could see Ireland on the horizon.

Parking in a large passing place on the road to the north west Faint quad track take you across the soggy ground virtually to the pillar. Great views in all directions from here

In good condition! Sightholes partially covered, great views. Easy obvious track from the road/southern upland way to the trig. Views to Ireland, Isle of Man and mull of kintyre.

Roadside verge parking due N. Pillar sits in rough pasture retaining original top cap, raised lettering; LHS sight hole open, front plug degrading. Very smooth screed finish. Extensive panoramic views - Ireland, Kintyre etc. With Alex and Tony.

Trig found in good condition, weather unfortunately a little wet and drizzly so limited views. Easy find near road to Killantringan lighthouse. Cap still present with raised lettering and trig in good condition.

Walk across from lane to lighthouse the area in not fenced off from the road so it's just a short walk south from the road to the trig point,but the ground is boggy and rough.

As others have done found a parking spot to the north-west and followed the 'path' up to the pillar. Remains in good condition and retains a raised lettered plug. Lovely all round views.

Vgc pillar atop Killantringan Fell. Easy access from the road to the north. Clear path up. FB faces east-ish with south-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with raised lettering. Superb views all round. Ireland clearly visible beyond Killantringan lighthouse which is also worth a look.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 7th October 1954, costing £15.5s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NX29/12 within the Girvan block during 1955. Levelled for height also in 1955. Last maintained by the OS on May 1985. SITE VISIT: Open grazing top. Accessed from unclassified road to north. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces ENE, ~66°. Vented through SE sight hole, NE sight breaking open. Views include Northern Ireland, Mull of Kintyre and Cairn Pat.
