Parked in the Killingworth wagonways car park, then cross the road and walk to the trig point about twenty meters North West. Set back slightly from the road - an easy trig to tick off.

A friend had a business meeting in Whitley Bay so I managed to tag along for the ride and bag a couple of lee appealing TP's. This is a simple roadside bag that has a nice convenient parking bay across the road. Nice setting but no views any more. Couple of beers in the Split Chimp at Spanish City afterwards.

This has been on my list of trigs to visit for (checks calculator) 15 years. Well by chance today was the day as I was out cycling. This place has changed a lot from the early photographs and does not have much of a view today, but it is still a nice place to visit with a park and cycleway just to the south.

Parked in housing estate Palmer Green. Followed the waggonway north to a little car park. There it is nicely protected on opposite side of this little car park with its own designated approach. Spider is infilled.Interesting history of the coalmines and waggonways. Now onto my 2nd nearby town trig.

Finished my first exam in 27 years, but couldn't leave Toon without bagging my first trig in the area. Parked at an Aldi to the S then a pleasant walk up the Wagon Way to the little car park and the trig is opposite side of road. Wow, this TP has it's own patio and little paved path to it! Great to see some respect for the pillar man. No views but the pillar is in good nick, and I will mark up for the patio area it occupies. An easy one, with a little character too.

Easy trig to bag, just along from Killingworth village. Little car park almost opposite so no problems with parking. Trig just off road up a couple of steps. Surrounded by overgrown weeds and rosebay willowherb. I must come back and get a photo when this is in full bloom as it will probably look quite nice, in an overgrown sort of way!

Paid homage to this trig in roadside verge with its own little path and walled enclosure....as others have said though, it's a bit grubby and there are no views.

Had to make a detour to squeeze 30 miles out of the ride here. The shrine idea is rather sweet but the pillar did look rather scruffy and they could do with a bit of weedkiller on the nettles around the base. Old style Northeast local authorities were prone to making gestures and then forgetting about the upkeep needed. Could I score this down because I had another puncture ?

Pillar very grubby but intact. Came up the old Wagon Way from Palmersville after visiting East Benton Farm (non)trig. Father Ted is correct about its shrine like position but unfortunately it just doesnt sit square enough to totally complete the effect, nice attempt though. View, well nothing really.

Visited to record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar completed 1st August 1947 costing £7.13s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NZ29/T105 within the Newcaslte block later in 1947. Levelled for height in 1962. Last maintained by the OS in November 1978. SITE VISIT: Roadside pillar, east side of Brunton Lane. Column in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces west across road.
