Metal plug (raised letters). I lived in Arnold many years, so back on old ground. Mossy pillar in woodland on right side of path a short way along beyond last house at top of lane. Wood popular with dog walkers.

A very easy bag walking uphill along Killisick Lane, Arnold. The trig pillar is on the right through a squeeze gap just around a 3 minute walk from where I parked. I continued from here to create a circular 2.8 mile walk taking in Arnold Lodge and Dorket Head trigs

Parked on Surgey's Lane. Took the public right of way from there up to the pillar. There is a chunk missing from the top and a crack on one side of the column. The cap was missing, so I replaced it

re-visit. braked to 30mph speed limit down hill from Dorket Head. Approached from West up cul-de-sac road. Through barrier then right through further barrier and it is on your left. completely surrounded by trees .

Approached from Asda at Arnold, taking the Surgey's Lane route heading up. When the lane bends R a bridleway continues past the last houses on your right into woodland. Before you know it the pillar is there to your right through the gateway. The cap is missing as is one of the loops. However, I class this pillar as good because it does appear to have been subject to some repair work at some point. No views due to woodland.

Parked at start of PROW followed track short distance until it bears left. Make the left turn and follow the track up slight incline. Near end of track there's a track off to the left where the trigs sits and is easily visible, Trig slight damaged to top and an horizontal crack in the side of the pillar. centre cap also missing

(1435) Tackled this one from the Howbeck Road/Killisick Lane entrance, which was a pleasant enough walk. A quicker route would have been via Surgey's Lane. Plenty of dog walkers about today. Area overgrown so walked passed the pillar and had to double back. Quite battered, but still standing. No new damage really evident. Plug missing, with greenery now growing out of the centre pipe. Pillar history: Built on the 22th of August 1948, at a cost of £8 10s 10d. Last maintained by the OS in January of 1983.

On way to see friends in Carlton, NE Nottingham, and bagged this one on the way, I've wanting to hit this one for a number of years. It's easily found though hard to imagine the area stripped of its vegetation as it was when the trig was operational: were the views S and E? Spider is missing and the white paint is peeling, but hey, the place had winter atmosphere to it. By the way, nearby Dorket Head trig has been given a fresh lick of white paint; round of thanks to whoever is looking after it, it looks great, especially at night.

Easy access from the top of the nearby road head. Surrounded by trees, but thanks to the person who has recently cut back all the nettles surrounding this trig. Previously painted in some rubber-based paint which is now peeling off, damage to top corner, centre and E s/hole open, repairs to top have removed one retaining loop, but its hanging in there!

Found at the Surgey's/Killisick Lane entrance to the Hobbucks nature reserve. After entering at Killisick Lane take the trail to the right and the tig point will be on your left.

Visited pre dawn from the ROW at the top of the nearby housing estate. even in the gloom it looked in a bit of a sorry state. some signs of adhock repairs so there may be hope

I fear this pillar is heading in the same way as sunrise hill,its okay for now but the paint is flaky,no cap and looks in a poor state.its like a maze round here!!! revisit 25/11/20-its still here!!

The best of the Arnold cluster, on the edge of a nature reserve? Came up through estate rather than attempt the ROW from the east. Somebody had left a pile of bird seed on the top.

Pillar sits in dark wood surrounded by shrubs,Pillar newly painted with imprint of size nine shoe in it above FB plate .It also appears repair work has taken place ie rendering work.I believe this pillar needs an upgrade to good now.

Easy to find at the side of the footpath. Would have been easier if I had entered the correct co-ordinates into my GPS and not spent 20 mins thrashing about in the undergrowth abouth 50 yards away. Big chunk out of the top but otherwise resting peacefully here.

On a circular trig stroll from Woodborough on a sunny, cold and windy day. Damage to the top of the trig pillar which has lost some of its surface though not major. No view from pillar due to woods, but you don't need to go far. Shame about the nearby tip - hopefully it'll soon be full.

No GPS under trees. Recent debris removal around base. Top damaged - apart from the large chunk of one face missing, I noted that one metal loop was snapped. Not the result of a tree falling on it then !

A pleasanter spot than I expected for somewhere so close to housing. Elsewhere this would have been a prime location for fly-tipping. The pillar has been vandalised though, so I too agree with "damaged". GR to 10m only.

Damaged badly on west face and on top surface. The plug is now missing completely. One hook damaged and the hole underneath filled in. East sight hole open, the others closed. Very little white paint. Completely surrounded by trees at the top of a cul-de-sac of detached houses which face an area of open ground.

Large chunks of concrete missing from pillar. Plastic replacement for plug has now been smashed and the pieces dropped into the centre hole. Tree cover makes it difficult to get a good GPS fix.
