Log #453. Ample parking near bakery (which appears closed now), then walked north up the track towards Craighead farm before turning right up the well-trodden grassy track towards the trig. Good condition, cap intact with lightly-indented lettering. Pretty great views over Lanark and Carluke. [ExP-311/MiP-38/Rev-6/BM-29/IS-50/Other-19]

Parked up in the car park next to the village bakery and bought myself a ham salad roll and chunk of apple pie! After munching my roll and with clouds in the distance threatening I headed off in sunshine up the stony track that leads directly NE from the car park. After 300m I turned SE onto a grass track (the course of a Roman road) and continued along the edge of the field to a rickety gate which I climbed over. From there it was a short walk across pasture up to the pillar. The pillar has a mast for company and has a small chunk out of the SW corner of the top. Nice cap with shallow letters, FB faces E, S sighthole open, all others plugged. A few spots of very light rain started to fall as I left the summit, and as I reached the stone track again a hail shower suddenly descended! I got to the car and considered my next move. I saved the apple pie for later though...
