A day of two Trigs, two countries, a mountain and a sheep rescue (!) Walked here from Barrow Burn taking the Clennell Street path up to the Border ridge, then right onto The Penine Way to King's Seat Trig (the Trig itself requiring a quick hop over the fence). Great views all around with the Scotland on one side and England on the other. Plug removed and some wear and tear around the base. This was a Winter visit, icey and squelchy underfoot with patches of snow. Looking forward to a Summertime revisit.

19/01/18 Second Visit - As we are close to completing all 155 Northumberland Trig Pillars I needed to get Rosie up here so she could 'bag' this one too, it was the only one I'd done prior to getting her that we haven't redone since. Chose an 'interesting' day to do it, deep soft powdery snow all the way up from Cocklawfoot made for tortuously slow progress to Hexpathgate, and even slower along the border ridge. There was no trace whatsoever of the flagstone path! We returned by taking a direct traverse down Kingsseat Shin to the track that follows Cocklaw Burn back to the start. 17/11/13 First Visit - This was the last big walk I did in the Cheviots on my own, a couple of weeks after this I rescued Rosie. She was no one's pet, just a puppy breeding commodity. I think she prefers to be out in places like this!

This pillar is passed when walking the Pennine Way. Local access from the Scottish side is from Cocklawfoot. Ample off road parking just before the farmyard entrance. The farmer at Cocklawfoot is friendly towards walkers. All hill paths are mapped and the route includes a visit to neighbouring Windy Gyle. S7997 photographed 6/10/2007, GRP.
