Parked just before the footpath sign on the verge, not the greatest parking but really didn't have any other choice. Headed up to the den which was a lovely walk along the burn. Then for the steep climb up the hill. First bit is the worst and then it levels out a little. Fantastic views from the top.

Nice walk up from Newtyle in the autumn sunshine. Further than it appears and steeper in the upper parts as well. Pleasant by the stream in the trees but a bit windier on the top.

Up by The Den. White trig in good condition. Too overcast with mist swirling in to see very far.

P102. Parked just off road beside gate at field. Lovely walk through the trees and alongside burn. Then it opened up onto the steep section which is a lung burster. It's worth it to visit this trig and folly and to admire the spectacular views.

Followed signed path for Kinpurney Tower from Newtyle, via Denhead Farm. Long views in all directions today, including Schiehallion and Ben More (56miles) clearly visible.

Ascent initially through a fine woodland path and gurgling burn alongside, and as we climbed the fabulous countryside of Angus took beautiful shape below us. Schiehallion caught my eye: this will be my first Munro.

vgc, no cap or plug. Tower and toposcope. Snowy ascent, windy summit, misty view. First in a day of four trigs with Steve Cliff. Staying in Glen Clova but the big hills there was even less hospitable: 300-400m was quite high enough today.

SITE VISIT: Trig pillar in good condition. Spider had a newer OS centre cap with raised lettering, probably a replacement cap, but since stolen. Unusual hollow tower on summit.
