First of three on a long walk from the car park at the top of the Downs south west of Storrington. Pouring with rain and heavy mist, so no views at the time. This one is about 3/4 mile east of the car park.

From Amberley direction, then a slight diversion from the South Downs Way to find the pillar with an open cap & one s/h open. Beautifully situated up here, and then walking a few yards eastwards, there is a steep, green drop of a hillside. Stunning.

Parked in the CP at Kithurst Hill (TQ070124) followed the South Down Way footpath W for 1km, then turned N along a bridleway to the summit trig. Best views can be achieved at TQ 08231 12495

Found at night using map, compass and pacing. Spent the night in a bivvi next to the pillar and woken by the calls of Ravens and watched the sun come up over the Downs

Clouded over a bit by the time we reached here from Barpham Hill, but still excellent views along the south coast, including the IoW, and loads of gliders overhead from Storrington Glider Club. Views north are obscured by small trees in the immediate vicinity of the trig, but from slightly further E or W there are excellent views of the North Downs, and, weirdly, a shaft of sunlight picking out Gatwick Airport. Also good intervis to Blackpatch, Barpham, Cissbury, Chanctonbury and Butser Hill trigs. Centre, and N s/hole open, but otherwise vgc.

Good parking at the top of the South Dawns 1km west of the trig, then a pleasant stroll along the South Downs Way. Day 2 of 6 of our SE England hill/trig bagging tour. Some good weather after yesterday's damp start. Pillar is in good condition and always good views from the Downs.

Came here to bag the HuMP and trig and do a bit of caching too. The car park is good and free but not signposted from the main road so a TomTom is useful. Walked along the SDW and then doubled back to the trig. Its right on the path so there is no need to vault any fences for this one.

Should have done this when I did Rackham Hill but somehow didn't. Parked easily at the car park just a1km to the west of the trig. After smashing my head on the car door and mopping up the blood, it was a lovely stroll up to the trig from where there are fantastic views. A really beautiful place. Me 213m

This was easy to find but was first touched by my son who now claims to have "bagged" it first. As I did all the driving and the navigating once on the hill I claim it for my own. He also had a bike with him so I feel this gave him an unfair advantage! A nice short walk from the carpark on a warm afternoon.

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! I have only vague memories of this yomp, which included three trigs, but the yellow highlighted symbols on my 1994 Landranger are ticked and there's blue highlighter indicating route completed, so it was done. I'm estimating the date as being in the early Summer of 1997, when I clearly did a lot of trigging, mainly recorded in my (sadly lost) little blue book!
