Walked up past Tomlea Farm, and then ever upwards across heather, granite rocks, bogs and grasses to reach the top of Knock Of Balmyle, noticing Loch Mharaich below. Saw one roe deer on the way up, and two on return. Lots of bees at the summit, honey bees I think, enjoying the heather and sunshine. A huge granite stone a hundred yards away from the pillar: I hugged it, of course.

While staying on the Persie estate I walked up to Persie Hill and onto this point. The views from here looking north are fantastic. Southern cairngorms stretching out.
