Approached from west along B390, turned north at sign for Quebec Farm. Tarmac surface but broken up with big potholes in places. Past barn on east of road then a T junction with a well surfaced concrete military road, with notice that only for authorised vehicles. Pulled over to north of junction then on foot north along track, probably just about driveable, but looked a bit rough. At north end of track is what looks like the start of the firing ranges. Climbed onto long discarded hay bales for a better view but couldn’t make out a TP to the north, but then, hang on , possibly just the top. Climbed onto a pile of old tyres for a slightly better vantage point and then could just make out the tip of the pillar about three hundred metres to the north. Not sure if it was wise as red flag was up and distant but very occasional shots were heard. Made a dash for it. Even running a bit, now and then. Cap missing. Good views. Slightly leaning. Dash back. On walk back down the track passed a four by four coming towards me, just waved. Interesting to note jonglew’s note about the red flags.

As the pillar was at least 380 metres past the ‘don’t pass’ sign and I couldn’t even see it I decided against breaking the local bylaw’s especially as the police stopped me earlier this year when I only went 80 metres past a sign.

Near to Quebec Farm and Knook Castle, an Iron Age settlement of just over 3 acres. Today, in the field opposite Quebec Farm was a large gathering of motor-bike dirt trackers, many of the riders very young. So, very noisy up here. Quieter at the trig: pillar has open cap, & 3 s/h's open.

Easy access from byway to south, across open pasture. Much evidence of cows, who I suspect are responsible for the significant base erosion (a good 6" of base is exposed, in striking contrast to g4wsb's pic in 2015), and the slight lean. Centre and one s/hole open, but otherwise the pillar is in vgc, with good all round views across the Plain, even on a very grey day.

Located 350m into Imber Range (part of the MoD's Salisbury Plain training area) so there is no public access to this trig, but... Good parking can be found anywhere along the byway that heads north from the B390 at Ansty Hill. The pillar is leaning a little, 3 sight holes are open, 1 sealed. Plug is missing and centre hole is open. Have marked this slightly damaged due to the lean and missing plug, but otherwise it's in good condition. 360 views to be had, but nothing startling. Note: the army have changed their policy on access to the ranges, whereas they used to raise and lower the red flags as and when live firing exercises were happening, they now leave the flags flying all year round - except at Christmas/NY and Easter when the public byways are open for access to Imber village and elsewhere.
