This is tough to get to. My route was following the fence line which meets the track into the Lochan...plenty of blaeberries too.

Detour off John o'Groats Trail. With fallen trees I made very heavy weather of this one. I am however now the bookies favourite for the 2023 Grand National.

Not all paths on 1:25k still exist, if they do they are covered in felled trees. Took a rather wiggly route up but found a much more straight forward route back via a logging track, see picture. Loads of flies at the trigpoint.

Good paths until 600m, then up reasonably clear fire breaks to the trig. Saw whilst geocaching.

Bit of a swine to access, but return route far better. Drove along forest roads to NH 7432 7813, parking in a long lay-by. Fire break from NH 7419 7801 was ok to NH 7405 7806 when a direct line to the pillar encountered a lot of windfall seriously impeding, but not stopping, progress. Return was very easy, taking an almost direct route through mature conifers back to car. Pillar is vgc retaining original centre cap, raised lettering. No views. With Carole Engel.

This one was a bit more involved than I was expecting. Bit of a slog through the firebreak and falling in a few holes in the heather but after some huffing and puffing reached the trig. Not much to say about the trig itself really, not much of any views but the pillar is in good condition. Tried straight lining back to the car down firebreaks and through/around fallen trees and despite being a shorter distance I am not sure it was any easier really!

Followed main paths from car park to within 200m. Then followed a slight fire break then a deer track and ended up having to navigate fallen trees and baby trees for the last 100m. Pretty tough going. Trig has quite a bit of moss on it. Decided to follow the old fence back down and then a fire break which took me into a main track again and followed this to the junction that takes you back to the car park. That was a lot easier but longer.

Approached from northeast. Parking is at NH757791 not NH755792 as shown on maps. Followed mapped tracks to NH741779. Many of the mapped tracks off this route are overgrown and missed on the ground. Ended up tramping through woods and located pillar using the GPSr. Area around pillar is wooded with heathery ground. column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces ENE, compass reading 121°. Vented through NW sight hole. No distant view due to woods, but open outlook northwards to more woods across clearfell.
