Bagged on the Attermire circular walk, anti-clockwise from Langcliffe. Accessed via a network of paths running round the rear of Warrendale Knotts in order to avoid scrambling! The views from the trig were absolutely stunning and the cairn with accompanying mini limestone pavement provided some extra wow factor. Having failed to find the trig some 4.5 years ago I was determined to bag it this time around and it proved well worth the wait :-D

Fantastic ramble through limestone country and the views are terrific, especially to the North where Ingleborough, Pen y ghent and Whernside are all in view. I have passed below these cliffs a fair few times and other than the total grandness of the landscape, I have never thought of climbing to the top or to find a trig. Once you get your head around having to scramble a bit to reach the pillar, you will find numerous routes and it is well worth it. Explore. I do believe you can die of a broken heart, and thus I dedicate this pillar to Lisa Marie Presley.

In the area with my walking group, The Irregulars, LDWA, so the opportunity to make a short detour to this pillar was just too good not to be missed. The pillar is easily accessible after a good stiff climb and highly visible. Although not on a public foot path there are sheep trods leading to it. As others have said part of refuge and plug is missing otherwise in good condition. Normally one of the best viewing location in the Dales but somewhat resricted by a mist today.

Found this trig point by accident after getting curious about what was at the top of the Warrendale Knots. This was incredibly hard to get to due to the weather. 50-60 mph winds and very heavy rain, and about 1 degree, but was a good test for my new Rab jacket! Walked up from Settle, en-route to Rye Loaf Hill and Kirkby Fell. So was at the trig fairly quickly considering. Follow my two day attempt at these hills here http://fell-finder.blogspot.com/2011/01/rye-loaf-trek-14111.html

One of the best views you can expect from a pillar within the Dales. Unfortunately not today beyond about 1 mile. Attermire Scar is awesome and this has to one of the best places to view it from. Access from the ladder stile mentioned elsewhere then followed a sheep track around the base of the scar and then a quick scramble up the far side onto a very windy summit. Trig is almost buried by the rubble on the summit, but still in good nick considering. What a great place - can't believe it's been nearly two years since someone has logged this one.

A simply stunning view today with the Three Peaks at their sunlit best. Easy access if you approach just west of the trig\limestone crags. A ladder stile a few yards west of a single line of wall (shown on the OS Explorer 041 map just below and left of the trig) gives access to a path running below the limestone crags on the right, follow it to the pond\wall where you do a right U-turn to easily walk along the top of the crags and follow a faint path to the trig. More Warrendale Knotts than Langcliffe on my map!
