Easy walk up from Langdale End via Howden Hill. Walked back via Morra Head where there was an off-road motocross event going on. Even though the designated footpaths here are off-limits, a lot of the tracks roundabout had been trashed by these bikes. What should have been a nice quiet weekend walk became a very muddy and noisy one.

Walked over from Coomb Hill over the stepping stones and through Langdale End – had to make the excursion up Howden Hill which has a permissive path from the north. It’s a pity there is not a trigpoint up there – a great little mountain with spectacular views. I bit of a slog up to the Langdale trigpoint through the new forest. Returned through Morra Head Wood – this area is used by off road motor bikes. I know they need somewhere to practice their sport but the woodland way beyond their allocated area is being scared and destroyed. Made a detour on the way back for a drink at the Moorcock Inn – looks like a great old pub – but unfortunately it was closed.
