A lovely day for a walk around some of the hill forts in the area. Only saw a couple of people in the distance all day and all good tracks and paths to follow. A slightly wonky "8" on the flush bracket. Great views from up here.

Dere St from road junction to col, then up to trig. Superb views on a clear cool day. Very quiet, despite being a Bank Holiday weekend Friday. Went on to look at Woden Law hillfort... impressive multiple banks & ditches with entrances still visible and some hut circles inside. It's been suggested some of the banks are Roman siegeworks around the native (Iron Age) settlement, but this is uncertain (see the Hillfort Atlas

Parked at Pennymuir and walked down Dere Street via Towford and uphill as far as the concrete shelter and then following the grassy track to the summit of Langside Law. Super panoramic views in all directions from the trig, which was slightly damaged on one of the top corners but otherwise in good nick. Made a circular walk out of it, following the track along to Buchtrig (where we encountered a very friendly farmer who complimented us on being considerate walkers) and then following the road back up to Pennymuir. An altogether pleasant walk with easy navigation along grassy paths, walker-friendly gates and no barbed wire or electric fencing to circumnavigate, which points I complimented said friendly farmer on! :)
