(3287) Parked at the cemetery - though you can park a fair bit further up from there - and followed the PRoW uphill until reaching small wooded area. The easy to access field to the left is the one you want. Then headed W along the margins and there she is in the hedge. Some secateur work needed, but all salient parts was largely visible today. The pillar sits just inside Rutland. The other side of the hedge and beyond is Leicestershire. Pillar in overall good condition. There is some old damage to the top, but not enough to warrant a downgrade from 'good' in my opinion. Centre cap retained - lightly indented lettering. Pillar history: Built on the 21st of May 1938, at a cost of £3 14s 5d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1984.

At top, left through gate to field and west along hedge line. Pillar not visible on approach, after about one hundred metres, at a slight bend to south in hedge pillar sits inside the hedge. Good views to south over top of hedge, better from top of footpath. Protected by hedge and spider and cap in place. Chipped on top corner.

A very pleasant walk to here from Belton in Rutland, trig a short diversion from a geocaching circuit . The pillar is in good condition apart from a small chip out of one top corner (probably caused by hedge cutting), all the metalwork is fine. The back of the pillar is hidden from view though, as it is in the hedge. View to the north when I visited was newly ploughed field, no view to the south due to the tall hedge. A joint visit with Carole. We parked at Bluestones Farm to the south. Then used a very muddy bridleway which headed north then west to the pillar. The pillar itself is situated on the north side of the hedge. Apart from a small piece missing from the top corner the pillar is in good condition and still retains an original indented lettered metal plug. Would have enthused about the rural location but not today - the mud was appalling.

We parked at Launde Abby and walked a 4 mile circular walk. The tea room at the Abbey were open at 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon!
