Left car at parking and walked straight up to trig. Like others have said an almost unnoticeable pillar. Saw an iron spike and a half bag of cured cement nearby. Wonder if there was a mast here at some time?

A steep start to the walk across sheep-grazed grass from the parking area on the B-road to the south. Soon enough it's back to moorland and wet patches, with lots of dark soft peat in large patches on the ground near the top. The light was fading so I knew I had to make it up and down fairly swiftly. The pillar is - as has been pointed out - very inconspicuous until one is less than 100 metres away. FB faces NNE; metal cap with slightly off-centre raised letters; WNW sighthole open, all others plugged (SSW sighthole covered by earth and grass). Good views again, with lights starting to appear in the sea and on land, and a lovely red tinge to the clouds as the sun started to slip below the hills.

This is one of the most inconspicuous trigs I've experienced. With a level plateau at the top and much erosion of the surrounding peat it's only in the last 50 or so yards/metres it appears.

Started in dull weather but ended up in mist and drizzle with fresh breeze. The views may have been good but I didn't see them. Decided to carry on to Laxo Water and then down the Laxo Burn. On a good day this would make a pleasant walk, indeed Laxo Water now has a waymarked route as part of walkshetland
