Visited as a spectator (sadly not a participant) in this years LDWA EBB 100mile challenge walk. Parked up at foot of hill near checkpoint 2 and strolled up before event arrived to find the pillar enclosed by trees, with no view at all and some way below summit, which, with its castellated monument, was a splendid view point over the sweep of south Birmingham. Information board describes how, over 100 years ago, the Cadbury family gave the hill to the city of Birmingham for the leisure and enjoyment of its citizens. A fine legacy.

Parked on a road called Beacon Hill. Took the public right of way (PRoW) up to the pillar on Beacon Hill, which is part of the Lickey Hills Country Park. Passed a toposcope along the way, which is on top of a very ornate castle like viewing platform, which provides brilliant views (built to commemorate the gift of the land to the City of Birmingham in 1907 by the Cadbury family). The cap was missing from the pillar, so I replaced it with a new one. Oddly, the pillar is not positioned on the summit of the hill, but a little further down.

Area immediately by the trig had minimal views but many rabbits nearby. A few meters away and there are great views and the fairytale castle.

No real view from the trig point itself due to trees and on my visit a burnt out car good place to fly a kite though and reminded me of childhood visits to Horsenden Hill in Middlesex for the views nearby

Living as I do right by the Warley Reservoir trig [which is how I monitor the movements of the Water Board and grass mowers in order to get the fb number!] you can, with a pair of binoculars and a bit of imagination, see this trig from my bedroom window, so it was nice to be up here again to log it. Central plug missing and one of the three hooks on the top is damaged, otherwise in very good condition for such a popular spot. Today it was nearly dark and the views over Brum with all the lights coming on were really superb! From the summit of the hill, it's even better!

On the edge of wood, someway below the summit. Once there would have been a fine view of Birmingham, but the trees have grown. Lots of folk about, some playing football in the woods, and plenty of kite flyers. Pillar in good shape, save for a missing plug.

This one is at a very popular place for family days out. My Mum, Dad, Sister and I used to go qite often when I was young. Day trips from Birmingham used to come up the hill on trams, when there were trams in Birmingham. Good views across Birmingham and Worcestershire.
