(2915) About as easy as they come. Parking available right at the pillar. Going by previous logs, the site seems to attract the litter bugs and graffiti merchants but area was fine today. Good views looking back to ilkley moor. Pillar could do with a fresh coat of paint, and the centre cap is non original, but overall in good condition. Pillar history: Built on the 3rd of April 1949, at a cost of £9 9s 8d. Last maintained by the OS in October 1986.

Had an away day Clay Pigeon shooting at Cold Coniston - which was great. Found an easy bag with this one, which you can drive to and park in a lay by next to it. The only downside was Zak and Lisa's campervan in the lay by with me, but we all have our hobbies I suppose. Views to Beamsley Beacon and Rombald's Moor. Pillar in a reasonably good condition.

Start of a beautiful walk working out the river catchments in this the land of the East (just) up to Beasley Beacon then across the moor returning through beautiful lanes and old routes, pig farms to lapwing flocks. 2nd trig nearly in view from here.

Bagged on a round of Beamsley Beacon and Middleton Moor. The pillar sits in a convenient roadside hardstanding, amongst scrubby vegetation, and has been recently vandalised. A big shame to see it looking like this, it just needs a good clean and some fresh paint as it is in otherwise fine condition.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 3rd April 1949 costing £9.9s.8d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD96/T25 in 1951. Levelled for height in 1956. Last maintained by the OS in October 1986. SITE VISIT: Drive by trig. Could have touched this one without getting out of the car. On the edge of public car park. Pillar in good condition and still reasonably white. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces NNW, ~337°. All four horizontal sighting holes open, innards blocked with debris. Two separate panoramic views in opposite directions each spanning 90°, one centred on NNW and the other on SSE. Remainder blocked by neighbouring woods.

Revisit. Tarmac plug. Mac Hawk's paint job is still evident but starting to flake a little. At least theres no graffiti and not much litter at present. As regards the choice of location, theres a sightline to Beamsley Beacon in one direction and across Ilkley in another, so maybe this plus ease of access was a factor. Rain approaching.

Not the most obvious place to site a Trig - on the side of a hill and behind a wall (maybe the wall wasn't there when the Trig was built?). Anyway the Trig has had it's plug filled in and doesn't appear to have suffered any further recent damage or vandalism

Parked here for a circular walk to Beamsley Beacon, trig is slightly soot damaged, but other than that looks to be ok. No views to speak of. Was the wall built after the trig? If not, how did they see it from Beamsley Beacon?

We were driving along the road to Beamsley Beacon and pulled in to check the map. Literally right in front of the car, beside a wall, stood this trig point! A complete accidental discovery, this one. Some smart alec had recently tried to start a fire right in front of the trig judging by the burnt wood and layer of soot on the trig paint. No view today, due to low misty cloud. Nothing special here, though at least you needn't waste any precious time to get to this one since it's immediately beside the road!

Easy to find using the OS Landranger map. The first day after the Easter holiday, noticeably cooler and overcast. This pillar has its own lay-by and litter bin and probably witnesses many clandestine meetings too ! Good views to be enjoyed on a finer day I should imagine.

4 of 4. I first came to this by accident. We took the wrong path off round hill, in thick fog, and reached the minor road a lot lower then Id hoped. The quickest way back to the car was along the minor road., past the trig. This one had its own bin. too bad none of the rubbish was actually in it.

Its a re-visit but seeing the recent photos, there are some things you just have to do. Towards the back end of a 12 mile walk I purposely detoured to this trig to give it a bit of TLC. It now resembles something like its prime, I hope it lasts (but I doubt it). I apologise for not being able to coat the rear of the pillar (the wall side) as the paint ran out. Note for anyone else considering such action, I reckon you need at least half a litre of paint to generously cover a standard trig (not including any plynth it might be sat on)

In the area geocaching. Poor trig could use a coat of paint, but that might just give the local gutterlife a blank canvas!!

Easily acessible. In parking area just off the road from Ilkley to Beamsley Beacon. The area would seem to be used by the local pond life if the graffiti on the pillar is anything to go by. Not an imposing position but a nice view across the valley to Rombalds (Ilkley) Moor.

What an abomination. Trig covered in red graffiti and surrounded with rubbish. Worst I've ever seen. Countryside ok though - on edge of moor above Ilkley. Bagged on a 20-mile round trip from Otley on the road bike. Beautiful day.

The trig is now covered in graffiti and it looks as though someone has attempted to set a fire at the bottom of the trig.

1st of 4 today. Immediate location poor, surrounding countryside good. Portaloo and mud lane now removed. Lane on other side of trig now. Off to Beamsley now.

Yorkshire. Painted white, including the asphalt plug. Good views but the scruffiness of the area alongside the trig keeps the score down.

Judging by earlier photographs there must be some work going on around here. The wall has been knocked through and there is a lovely Portaloo next to the trig. Still the trig seems unharmed.

Weather poor today, no views, an incessant mist (hence the score) but the trigs OK. Still litter strewn despite there being a bin in the location - I guess the some people like to park up, 'enjoy the views' from the motorised chariot, have a butty, scoff a few sweets, dump their litter & junk and return to Moronville!!
