Parked behind gate on road just to north of Middleton Farm entrance. Slippery, awkward ascent through wood then levels out through tussocks and heather. Half hour ish time. Lots of bees (hooray) and ticks (boo). Great 360 views.

Slightly circuitous walk up from minor road to E. Located on Cultybraggan Camp which was vacated by the MoD in 2004 and purchased by the Comrie Development Trust in 2007 for 350k. It had a varied history of usage being a WWII PoW camp (a 'black' camp housing the more ardent Nazis), then an Army training area; later a ROC nuclear monitoring post was established here and finally a Regional Government Headquarters. The pillar has at last been left in peace and has survived in good condition but for the top cap having been stolen and no plug; all sight holes are open. There is an extensive 360deg panorama.

Very wet and slippy climbing up through trees--would have quite liked some ferns to hang on to. Disturbed a fox near the top. Very handsome beast, beautiful, thick russet coat, black ears. And not bold, like the scrawny, urban foxes I see in the garden at home.

Parked in handy lay-by and walked up side of wood to avoid most of the ferns. Only took half an hour to reach the top. No flags flying.

Summit is part of a military firing range, luckily the flags weren't flying today. Pillar in good condition, but Allen Keys has recently been by and left the vertical tube open leaving behind both Allen screws. Pity the MOD weren't shooting the day AK visited, that might have brought the spider plug theft problem to an abrupt ending. All four sighting holes are open. FB faces 146, SE. Views to Cromlet, Coire Garbh {Ben Vorlich}, Mor Bheinn, Ben Lawers, Creag Uchdag, Carn Chois, Creag Each, Milquhanzie Hill, Torlum, Ben Cleugh. Built 28th October 1950. Tertiary station in Block NO02, Perth. Photographed 8/06/2006, GRP.

After triple checking for absence of red flags on the shooting range, I took the easy route up to the trig. It's in excellent condition: a lick of paint and five minutes with a wad of Duraglit would make it look brand new.
