Log #281.Parked on verge at NS374555 and followed dry-stane dyke to mast, then into very muddy field. The pillar has a number of small cracks, and the wire loops do not have the typical recesses (shown in photo). The FB is also poorly fitted, and overall, it's quite a poorly built pillar. Pretty good views, will go to the rocking stone and standing stones next time I'm in the area. [ExP-206/MiP-18/Rev-2/BM-16/IS-30/Other-9]

Second visit. For GPS reading and updated photographs. SITE VISIT: Overall approach from east. Parked offroad beside Kirkleegreen Resr at NS383556. Left road at NS380555 following fenceline SE and south to meet mapped track which led the way to the top. Returned straight down northern slope. Grazing top. Pillar in good condition, minor erosion to ground by livestock. Tar plug in spider has been broken open. Flush bracket faces NNE, ~20. Vented through three sight holes, SE face plugged, innards partially blocked with debris. 360 panoramic outlook spoiled by fog on day of visit.

Very good condition pillar with reskimmed top sporting curiously rounded corners and raised loops. FB faces north-ish, all sightholes except east-ish open. N/S tube is clear and bolt is visible. Cap missing and the asphalt plug has been broken open. Good views all around but particularly interesting (I found) that it's the last high-point before the ground drops away onto the plains of Ayrshire. The next high point to the south is Craigie Hill past Kilmarnock. Slightly higher score for that point alone. Also, the visibility was awesome today....Easy approach from north straight up the hill, took a left at the phone mast.

The asphalt plug has been broken so cap now open with the base a bit exposed and some weathering between the flush bracket and the adjacent Northern sight - only East sight is plugged. Very nicely named.. Lochs or reservoirs stretch off in every direction from this pleasant wee high pasture. It looks to have been repaired with fresh cement at some point and sports curiously raised rings on top.

Lochlands Hill ..perfectly named :-)

Hit this one during a sharp shower. Could see some snow in the Hill of Stake direction. When I was a wee bit east of the trig a snowy Ben Lomond briefly came into view. At least I think it was Ben Lomond but the parting of cloud was very brief! Yeaman baggers might like to question whether there is a higher point around the small puddle shown on the map at NS381551 which is encircled by a 210m contour (the trig is marked at 210m). This sad man decided he had to go there.
