Shares a paddock with WW2 concrete defences. Adjacent car park is popular with twitchers as it gives a great view over the Humber from the top of the bank.

(815) A nice quiet spot at the bottom of Humber Side Lane, with good views of Spurn and the south bank of the Humber. A couple of camper vans was present in the car park, but the occupants was still asleep. The pillar is inside a fenced area, but the fence is low enough as to be no real obstacle - and as it happened the nearby gate was wide open. The FB faces up against the fence, but it's still readable. All good. Pillar history: Built on the 3rd of March 1939, at a cost of £2 19s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 2000.

I parked on Seaside Road outside the caravan park and took a pleasant walk down the quiet lanes towards the pillar. There was one van in the car park but no one in it so I had the area to myself for the bag. Super views over the mouth of the Humber and Spurn Point. The pillar is in a fenced field but easily tigged by leaning over the fence. Good condition with original metalwork. Just as I left, amazingly, the police appeared coming down the lane, had a good stare at me but thankfully carried on. I can imagine it now "Touching and taking pictures of concrete pillars, a likely story my son...." Maybe they like to have lunch down here? Great day out on the Yorkshire coast.

The trig is tucked in a field corner by a rusting gate but has a big car park. Bench on the sea bank with views over the Humber and to the now tidal Spurn Island was occupied by an elderly couple so we left them to enjoy some peace and quiet. JFK

Getting to the pillar along small back roads was a challenge, especially when we came across a hedge trimmer. However, finding the pillar was straight-forward enough.

On a two day visit cycling this area, all 16 pillar trigs and one FBM on sheet 292. So this is D1-1, the first of the day. Breezy, so it made cycling that bit harder despite the flat roads. Easy find, flat but impressive views of Spurn Head and the Humber. Was going to wild camp here, but horses ended up in the field I earmarked and surprisingly quite a few dog walkers and bird watchers on the embankment in the evening, so went elsewhere.

Trig stands guard at the entrance to the car park behind a fence. Good view across to Spurn Head from the embankment. At 4 metres above sea level, this is the lowest trig I've visited so far.

Pillar in the corner of a field which also seems to have the remains of WW2 Defences. Great view over the Humber over the nearby bank. Easily accessible.

6th of 7. Very easy this one. Its beside the Easington bank carpark, behind a fence at the left of the road when you enter. No one else about. To date it would be my lowest trigpoint (4 metres above sealevel)

Yorkshire. Lots of other concrete blocks around but nowhere near as interesting as the trig pillar. Redshanks were out in force on the sandbanks of the Humber Estuary. Plug with slightly indented lettering.

Go any further & youll be in the Humber estuary. Parking for maybe a dozen cars. Decent view across the estuary if you like that kind of thing and bench on the embankment.

Pleasent spot, and excellent access. Had a Police Escort to this one, persumeably becuase I drove though the Oil terminal from TP2781, but they didn't stop and talk to me, probably realised I no threat when I stop and take a picture of a concrete column.
