The clearance work by paulxtr last summer is still evident. The coal side of Ferrybridge power station is to close at the end of this month leaving only the biomass plant so the view may change soon.

Pillar is accessible with a bit of a trespass and is quite visible as you approach it. I parked just to the north - to the east of the motorway bridge where a footpath starts. There is plenty of parking room here and I shared it with an Ambulance Responder who was waiting for his next call. I had to explain why I was about to climb the gate next to his vehicle and just got a raised eyebrow response. Anyway once over the gate it was just a matter of following the fence line up to the trig through hip high grass and crops. Pillar is still there which is quite a miracle considering how close it must have come to removal to make way for the motorway. The pillar has suffered some damage to the top as someone has made an attempt to remove the spider sometime in the past. If you like motorways then this is a good place to view one from. If you don't do what I did and beat a hasty retreat.
