Trig easily visible from the road. Hopped over a very rusty gate and took a quick photo. Field seems to be used to grow hay which had recently been cut. No livestock or crops to wade through.

Permission granted by farmer to park at Low Wood Farm. Walked east along road then entered field via a rusty gate. Pillar stands proud in lush pasture land. Flush bracket faces south and spider top is intact.

Following an eight mile hike out of Youlgrave with no trig points along its route except for the church, I spent the afternoon trigbagging, clocking up another seven miles in short hikes and an equal number of trigs including 6 of the Peak District 88 pillars. I parked in the sign posted car park for a short walk along the road before crossing the field via gate to the pillar. It is in generally good condition and retains the original centre for the spider. The views are reasonable.

Parked on Long Rake close to Low Wood Farm. Climbed over the gate into the field where the pillar is located, which was full of sheep. It was then only a short walk up to the pillar.

Evening walk visiting Youlgreave Church and Long Rake. In the middle of a field and easily reached via a metal gate leading onto a lane. Room for parking opposite gate. It was national volunteers week last week, so the two today are for all the volunteers.

Blimey! Came in from the east and met Trafford Park in miniature. A steady stream of lorries going up the narrow road to the quarry/factory, leaving their mark on the roadside with huge ruts. Once parked in the rough near the gate, (see below), it was an easy troll up. Views extensive, but uninspiring.

Took the Limestone Way from Youlgreave to Back Lane then past Long Rake Spar works. The trig soon comes into view on the right. I hopped over a metal gate beneath a tree immediately after Long Rake Spar works then made my way through a couple of open gates between fields to the trig. If you ignore this first gate and instead continue along Back Lane for another 200m you will come to another metal gate from where you can cut straight up the field to the trig. Views OK but nothing to get excited about. All metalwork intact but I could see a crack in the concrete on the face with the FB hence logged as slightly damaged. Villagers in Youlgreave were incredibly friendly - everyone I met stopped to say hello and exchange pleasantries. Had an interesting conversation with one elderly gentlemen about whether the village is called Youlgrave or Youlgreave and the origins of the name.

Fifth of six today as I try and pick off the Peak District pillars. Quiet country lane with parking just about viable opposite gate directly south of pillar. Walked up through flowering meadow to visit trig. Would be great spot for picnic.

My walking group, The Irregulars, LDWA were walking nearby on the Limstone Way. So this was an opportunity for melch and myself to slip away and and bag this one. Visible and easily accessible just off road. One gate to go through. Pillar in good order with indented lettering plug. Nice views but not spectacular.

Getting dark by the time we got to this one. Trigpoint in a field of cows and bulls, so photos taken from the road side. TP looks in good condition and being well looked after by the bovine population.

Had a similar experience to fasgadh - the field had been very recently muck-spreaded and the pillar [including the flush-bracket] was also sprayed with muck which I had to remove to get the number. Not a pleasant experience! It's all intact with the original plug - slightly indented letters. North sight hole open, the others closed. About 100 yards off a lane through a convenient gate. Good all-round views.

Although the 1:25000 map shows the pillar to be on a field boundary, it is now in the middle of a field, freshly muckspreaded. Pillar intact and in good condition.
