I've said before that the first pillar of the day sets the tone for the rest of my trigspeditions. This roadside pillar required no walking. It did not set the tone! Pulled into the Pay And Display Car Park, and only realised after I'd bought my ticket that you only need to pay from 8am onwards... oh well! An easy bag with a spectacular view, and a nearby monument to peace to have a look at, too. A good start to the day.

This is a beautiful place. Very dramatic. And today it was very windy, I stayed away from the cliff edge.

I dont remember the date of this visit at all, think it was during the summer of 03. All I can remember is the stares from people having picnics, of me standing on the trig (my bag style)

Return visit to Beachy Head on a summer's day. Lots of visitors, cars and coaches. There was even an area alongside the pillar marked out as a Hang Glider landing area! Still, the pillar was still in good condition.

Some superb view from here out to sea and east along the Seven Sisters. There is even a pub nearby. This was the end of a short and wet day's walk.

Last visited this pillar some two years ago. I have logged it in order to test the system. I would guess that it is unchanged today. The photograph doesn't do justice to the weather that day. It was overcast and very dull with strong winds and rain.

Living in Eastbourne I could hardly not visit this Trig Point, especially when there is a Pub within 100 yards of it ;-) Just be careful not to go to close to the cliff edge it is a long way down! My Dad is also a volunteer member of The Beachy Head Chaplaincy, a local charity dedicated to prevention of suicides at Beachy Head, they patrol the East Sussex cliffs in the evenings, and been credited with reducing suicides there. Visited many times over the years with Putney Walking Club, including once in 1995 when we expected to lunch at the adjacent pub, only to find it burned down, necessitating a very swift transit to East Dean to make it just before closing time. On this occasion, with the Linguist, walking from Seaford to Eastbourne.
