No horses in the field, the pillar blends into the hedge very well, I didn't spot it until 20ft away. or perhaps I should be wearing my specs.

A return visit with the aim of reaching the pillar, and not just viewing from road. How easy today! An empty field, so through the gate by the houses and a short walk.

Another year on, another Pershore Jazz Festival and another attempt. I visited on Friday August 16th and entered the field containing two very attentive horses. I walked along the lower edge of the field to and through a gate, up through a small wood and struggled over a wooden spikey fence onto the air field. I located the pillar after hacking away the brambles only to find myself on the "wrong" side of the pillar but managed to to get a photograph. On returning, I realised I had passed the pillar which was at the top of the field next to a disused ladder stile. I had been so distracted by the horses that I missed it and made a lot of unnecessary hard work for myself. I decided that on my return from Pershore that I would have another go and get more photographs by going up to the field top. The horses were even more attentive this time but I was succesful despite several tons of horseflesh breathing down my neck and nearly getting my rucksack eaten. A warning, if you are intimidated/afraid of horses, do not attempt this one. I parked at the entrance to Throckmorton Court.

Nothing has changed since the last visit! I asked at the house next to the field as to possible access to the field and was told to ask at Throckmorton Court. The owners strongly advised against this as the four horses are thoroughbreds amd quite feisty. Access from the road directly opposite the pillar's location proved impossible due to a combination of thick vegetation and two fences including one with barbed wire. I thought access was possible from the airfield but locked gates and high fencing led me to concede defeat. If I had gone into the field , the thought of being accosted by several tons of horseflesh made no sese as the owner had said a visitor to the farm had ended up with a broken pelvis whilst legitimately inspecting the horses. Good luck to the next visitor.

Should have been an easy walk through gate and across field. However, even stopping by the hedge brought two posh horses cantering toward me. Access did not seem possible around edges due to house on one side and thick hedge with high fence behind on other.

Having read the previous logs I decided to seek permission for this one. Four conversations later I managed it. The field is owned by the farm opposite the one with the rather grand entrance. Having gained permission the rest was easy, though the gate into the field next to the end house. No police cars, no cattle ghosts, just a passive horse.

Horses in the field. Was squatting out of sight behind the pillar when a police car came speeding towards me on the airfield tarmac. I was briefly worried about The Paranoia, when I remembered that the airfield is a police driving training area. Was just like the Sweeny (I still had not had my dinner) Then I heard heavy breathing behind me - the horses had turned up. Pillar intact and in good shape. A controversial place - F&M dead animal repository and threatened refugee camp.
