Parked in Eaton. Walked up Lightfoot Lane. Follow lane on beyond point where PROW veers left. Keep straight ahead with hedge on your left. Pillar is in the hedge at the top of the hill. Very muddy but excellent views. By Richard for HCU3A

Waked up Lightfoot Lane as my predecessors but took the wrong side of the hedgerow. Make sure you are on the north side as there is no way through.

An evening walk up Lightfoot Lane. Passing through the golf course and some tricky navigation negotiating hedgerows to reach this pillar. Huddled within a hedge the pillar is and will remain well protected. Spider top intact. Late summer evening sunshine, the harvested fields adds beauty and sheer determination to not give up rates this a worthy score.

Parked on Tarporley Road. From there, walked down the pavement along the A49, and then took the public right of way. Horrible walk through several very muddy/boggy fields. I tried to keep to the one area of grass along the hedge line where possible, but involved walking through a lot of nettles. At the point that the public right of way runs out, you need to climb over a very tricky fence. There is then an opening into the next field where the pillar can be found next the hedge. Is a very good pillar for a hedge pillar, which made up for the horrible journey to get to it!

Walk up Lightfoot Lane from Eaton Village past the gold course on your left. Eventually you come to a field and dead end. Turn left at end of field and over a fence (easy). Follow crops round to right and then through open gate. Turn left up the hill and the trig is hidden in the hedge.

Walked footpath along edge of golf course to Lightfoot Lane then turn north to end of track and across two very muddy field to the trig point. Zig zagging under bard wire fence to the left hand field and then through a gap into the righthand field to find the trig on the east side of the fence line.

Parked in Eaton village at the village hall and walked up the PRoW going up Lightfoot Ln. headed out NNW from the end of the lane across the edge of a couple of fields. Looks like the Boxing Day hunt had been through judging by the tracks in the field! Pillar tucked up against the hedge and still the owner of all its metal work. Reasonable views but not the best day for visibility. Nice spot apart from a noisy A49.

The swarm of angry bees heard on the way up from Eaton was practice day at Oulton Park. Path fizzled out into nettles so, wearing sandals, took to field edges to pillar.

Approached from SSE. Plenty suburban parking in Edgewell Lane, Eaton which runs east/west along the south side of the village. Followed mapped RoW up Lightfoot Lane to NW of village to its end then continued along boundaries to trig. Pillar stands by east side of boundary hedge, field is arable. Column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces ENE, compass measurement 57°. Sight holes: SE and SW buried, others plugged. 180° open outlook centred on ENE.

Parked at start of lane. Pleasant walk up to trig. Did a spot of gardening to open the pillar out a bit more. Original cap. Lots of noise from Oulton Park Racetrack. Good view.

Great little walk out from the village to this one of about 2 miles in total,farmer in field shooting crows.Trig in vgc has cap could see jodrell bank radar 23.5 miles away clear as a bell today.

Located about 150m beyond the end of a dead-end right of way. Jodrell Bank radio telescope visible in the distance. Approached from Eaton to the southwest, track cuts through golf course.
