After a rather big Sunday lunch at a friends I thought I would try and bag some trigs to walk it off. There is a quite handy parking place between Norton Malreward and the T junction by the start of the FP. Its not too steep to walk up but the ground was very wet and slippy. Trig is easily accessed because it is in a big empty grassy field. Good views all round. Watched some planes coming in to land at Bristol Airport.

Didn’t like the look of the gradient at all but really it isn’t that steep and you are soon on the top. Trig is in pasture opposite the obvious fort and some way from the PROW. Would have been a lovely peaceful walk but the nearby shooting range broke the calm of the area.

Did a circular walk from Norton Malreward via Norton Hawkfield and North Wick to first bag the Bristol UA top, Dundry Hill East (walking downhill to bag a hill - what's that all about?). Approaching Maes Knoll from the NW, the earthen mound Maes Knoll Tump is impressive. Pillar in good condition with coat of dirty white paint, also FB has vestiges of a yellow paint job. Cap missing, asphalt plug; all 4 sight holes open. Extensive 360deg views despite hill fort's broad flat top.

So I went to the other side of the hill, parking near the t-junction at Norton Malreward. Not unrewarding - a pleasant climb and good views from the flat top.
