Another stop en route to the Falkirk Stadium. Parked at head of muddy track (off the A907) to easily locate this pillar which has damage to one corner where its encasing has crumbled away. Asphalt cap; all sight-holes open. Then off to the match, my mud-splattered cords giving me that oh so cool vagabond look. And who was Maggie Duncan?

Built 13th November 1943. Secondary station in Block NT18, Dunfermline. Facing damage on S.E. edge of pillar is probably due to cattle, but frost will have played its part. Ground around pillar is eroded by livestock. Asphalt plug in spider. BSM FB faces north. All four sighting holes open but filled with debris. Grazing top surrounded by arable slopes except to the east. Best approached via track then gate at NS945909. Views to Dumyat, Ben Cleugh, Knock Hill. Revisited and photographed 19/03/2005, GRP.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 13th November 1943 costing £5.19s.0d. In 1946 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT18/14 in the Dunfermline block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1965. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in September 1980. Grazing land. The farmer came to see why I was there, but was OK when he saw I was just a walker. He was then more concerned for my welfare from the electric fences. GRP, 26/08/1988.
