The infamous Manor Farm... I drove past the entrance to the private street, and it is now securely gated, so there seemed absolutely no point in going any further, especially given this pillar's sorry history. Having had a good scout on Google Earth, it really does seem an illogical and rash decision by the landowner and by the OS to destroy this, rather than relocate. It would have been the work of a moment to simply move the fence 12 inches and see the pillar entirely on the farmland. But my thoughts matter not, it's gone now. As the preceding pillar would have been extremely close, I've logged that too.

Parked at Aldi in Batley town centre and made a walk of it. It's a fair climb up Soothill Lane to the summit of the road. Bearing in mind the comments below one has to assume that the pillar has been destroyed, so I made my mission to attain the road summit and return. It was dark, but I assume the views wouldn't be bad towards the Pennines. The masts near Meltham and both Emley Moor mast and Holme Moss transmitters were evident across the conurbation. Also in view, junction 27 and its retail park.

This is a decision that has not been taken lightly but due to constant attendance of people trespassing and not having the respect to ask to view we asked for it to be removed however os advised it was destroyed as satalight mapping is a method currently used. Turned out to be 11th and last visit of day as I couldn't find the last intended pillar! UPDATE 14/7/2014 In view of Amanda's action. I certainly wouldn't have wandered indiscriminately around people's property. I needed some indication of where to ask. The lads playing outside were readily there to ask. Perhaps, I should have asked permission of an adult, but they did volunteer and take me to the pillar.

Accessed the rear through the field gate described by Wanderer, then came back around to go up the driveway and around the last house to access the front of the pillar by the garage. The developer appears to have given consideration to Trig Baggers, as the side of the garage is now blessed with a layer of tarmac, so people can walk right up to it. Its not in anyones garden.

The trig is in the very furthest corner of this group of dwellings. Through the only road entrance, you will be in full view of the three residences. The third one is now occupied. Although each garden is not as such allocated, you would be walking right through their gardens to get round the side of this garage. So the trig is now in someone's back garden, yet right up against the garden's edge. Staying in the field will be your only hope (and it will get you a view of the flush bracket).

The farm no longer exists, the only building left is the old derelict barn. It looks like somethings happening but I'm not sure what. There's a metal fenced route around the barn which leads to the adjacent house, cars were parked there and as this was a Sunday I'm thinking they're using it as a car park rather than park on the road. There was also a small JCB there too, for what reason who knows. Anyway, ignore this fenced route and follow it with it on your left, you'll reach a gate, climb and just head towards the sheds. In a few years we might not be able to see/touch it as the vegetation grows. There were nettles & I was in shorts but it's wasn't that bad today. Update!! As I passed on 1st September the old barn roof is being replaced so it must be being put to some use.
