I parked in the village to the E then along the ROW, the footpath junction the takes you over to the pillar seems to of gone and there are certainly no markers, so I followed the path on the GPS diagonally across the ploughed field (luckily it was dry!) then along field bound. Pillar is in good condition and located in the hedge.

As advised by others, I took the first hedge-line from the track out of the village to easily find the pillar which has an asphalt-filled cap, and one sight-hole open. Had just visited the nearby superb church at Eastleach Turville across the clapper bridge from the unfortunately temporarily closed Eastleach Martin church (recent lightning damage). Two sensational buildings with just the beautifully clear River Leach between them. A unique setting. Highlight of the day. (STFC 1-2 Bury wasn't).

Followed the footpath across a ploughed field that made the going hard. Still then had to walk along the edge it to get to the TP.

Parked at bend in road 450m E of trig and followed trig-man's directions; made sense anyway not to walk across middle of recently planted field when a field boundary can be followed. FB facing into paddock and is against wire fence, needed to hop over to get a shot of it; but that after clearing nettles and fair bit of thorn - folding coping saw coming into its own, this was out of secateurs league! Pillar in good condition; cap missing, asphalt plug; 1 sight hole open. Good views S and W, limited in other directions.

Approached from the track, then up the footpath, which goes across a field. No sign of style so hopped over fence. Best to ignore footpath and carry on further up the track then follow field boundary straight to trig - NO hedgehopping required. Saw two deers running around the fields.

The pillar stands amongst a sparse, spiky hedge, next to the fence on the edge of a grass field to the north east of Fairford. It has an asphalt plug and FB S6283. I walked to the trig from the pretty stone built Cotswold village of Southrop. A footpath enters the field 100 metres away from the pillar but the stile is somewhat over grown and it is much easier to approach along the field boundary from the track to the south east. The trig looks over flat farmland. A distant low wooded ridge can be seen on the skyline to the south east and a low grassy ridge is on the horizon to the south west. There is a surviving cut bench mark on the village bus shelter.
