I enjoyed cycling down the tank roads and then along the A360 and then up the Ridge way. Trig is in field with cows in it. They were hiding it at one point. Red flags were out so didnt hand around.

A rather bizarre visit in that I didn't expect to be travelling to the trig in a vintage London Routemaster bus! Also I was able to get the driver to drop us next to the footpath, (no red flags today), then a short walk to the pillar: open cap, and one sight-hole open (two others 'punctured'). Then a shortish walk to Market Lavington to catch another London bus back to Warminster across Salisbury Plain. The main purpose today was to visit the 'lost' village of Imber and its restored church of St Giles, on a rare open day. For in 1943 the Army commandeered Imber and sadly the ousted villagers were never able to return. So today was especially memorable for travelling to Imber church and the trigpoint by a red double-decker London bus. This is now an annual event, so next year trigpointers, how about it?

Located in the middle of a field on the edge of the army ranges on the hill at Market Lavington. You can drive and park and walk across ok. The cattle seem to be using it as a scratching post, its slowly being eroded from the base.

Shouldn't really have crossed into the training area to bag this as there was a live fire exercise underway at the time - they very kindly stopped for me but were not happy. However, when I explained what I was doing THEY WERE STILL NOT VERY HAPPY! Moral of the story - at least make sure the flags aren't flying before crossing the range. Access easy as road here runs along edge of training area and trig is easily visible 130m away in field. ***Re-visited 21 Dec 2012 to photograph FB and check on condition. No exercises taking place so nearby vedette un-manned and access easy from the perimeter road. Trig is generally in good condition, although cap is missing and no plug. 1 sight hole open. Foundations are quite exposed.
