Third time lucky. First time was a drive by, expecting to see pillar from road, second time late in the day and stopped too far south and walked through the heather but gave up, must have been very close. This time, heading south west by road on A35, after a gentle dip, on left is a gap to pull in, where the old road used to be. Pillar is almost due west of here. Not visible from the road, unless if perhaps you’re in a lorry or coach and able to see over the roadside gorse and brambles. Clambered through gorse and over a wobbly wire fence. No obvious path to pillar. Reasonable views to the west. Only about 25 metres from the road. Rewarding after all previous efforts.
