Walked up from Kirkthorpe then bridleway S to first hedge line on the left. Followed hedge line NE to brow of hill and trig came in to view on right. Views are good all round. Last of three good trigs of the day. Old village of Kirkthorpe has an old church and an unusual old (16th cent?) square building which was once a hospital, now a house.

An existing pillar that is not shown on my 1:25000 map. However, it is there and at this time - after the cereal crop has been harvested - quite easy to reach with a bit of field trespass. The pillar is then highly visible been in the centre of a large cultivated field. I parked in a large parking area in the minor road to the north, just before the old railway/river bridge. I then used the enclosed footpath heading south. Once it opens up it is easy to cross into the filed and climb up the hill to the pillar. Everything in good order except that the original plug has been replaced by an asphalt one. Some nice views from this elevated location.
