Had planned to follow Carole Engel's excellent route but squadron of Forestry Commission vans and warders at the Ranger Station--which is just at the start of the track I wanted to drive. I was refused permission to drive so had to walk instead!

Easy find in trees - not Two many trails. Found end of wall but no route went farther north and up through trees and found a narrow fire break then fought way through trees till open area found trig on right behind more trees Took 3 Hours. Kim "not happy on this one" is an understatement!!!! Not for the faint hearted.

This is a difficult one to find, followed waymarked path through forestry to view point to the south of the trig point. When you are approaching the view point look for a faint path on you left heading up through the tree to a wall. From the wall it's case of working you way around all the fallen trees to find the trig point it was difficult even with the GPS. Good Luck.

Despite the maze of fancy waymarked paths, I did this following 1:25K & 1:50K maps, and because of all these unmapped paths I was getting hopelssly lost at first. Anyhow the trig is well beyond the reach of all the designer outdoor stuff and I had to fight through all sorts of vegetation. Finally resorted to GPS to locate pillar. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces 357 north, straight into tree! Vented through sight hole on FB face. Decided to decend via different route - add fight with windthrow to the equation.

vgc, metal cap deep letters, northernmost of several knolls, may still be in small clearing when spruce have grown, currently 6ft. Unexpected path leads E from 931707 then steep heather ride N, head thru sparse mature conifers and round E side of spruce. Close view of a Bank vole on the main track on the way back.
