Very enjoyable 3 mile walk in the autumn sunshine along the Kelvin Walkway from Kelvin Bridge subway station. Called in at the canal locks on the way back. Suprising view from the trigpoint.

One of the easiest Trigs you'll ever bag. Parked in Spence Street, walked to the end and followed a path to the left into the park. The pillar is just round the corner past some dilapidated tennis courts. Painted white and in a decent condition for an urban pillar.

Looking lovely and recently painted. It is a great viewpoint to the Campsies and Dumgoyne. As well as the bench plate it now has a neat disk on the top with the Tp number, grid reference, and latitude and longitude, along with a link to our place in the solar system, like on the Pioneer space probe! A nice quiet walk to it whilst social isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic: the park was not busy.

I seem to be making a habit of having a few hours to spare whilst in a city on a beautiful day so today I managed a walk to 2 trigpoints, mainly on green pathways, this being the 1st. My route took me from Byres Road area through the Botanic Gardens, along the Kelvin Way to this TP, which is very accessible and had good views to the Campsies. Cap gone but otherwise in good condition. After visiting this one I continued to High Possil Wood TP3802.

WHW#2: walking the Kelvin Walkway from the Riverside Museum in Glasgow to Milngavie. Surprisingly green, peaceful and scenic walk, especially for lovers of Himalayan Balsam :( Good views to N, other directions obscured by trees. Amazed to find metal cap still in place, deep letters. N and W s/holes open and E punctured, otherwise vgc.

From Balmuidy I walked along the footpath of the River Kelvin which was predictably muddy. Oh why did I wear a pair of summery white trousers today? Later I arrived at Partick Thistle's ground in a muddied & bloodied state (and not for the first time at a football ground). The pillar still retains its cap with deep indented lettering, and two & a half sight-holes open. Really enjoyable rambling, trigging, football day.

Drove around to the entrance to the park and went 150m across old disused bowling greens to the trig. I always find it strange to find trigs in locations like this.

Third visit. For GPS reading and photographs. SITE VISIT: Approached from east, but can be approached from main road if on foot. Ample parking in Spence Street, NS561699. City public park, choice of routes to top. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains replacement OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces SSW ~190°. Vented through NW and NE sight holes. Spectacular 45° panorama from N to NE of Campsie Fells, remainder lost to parkland trees.

Honestly? I'm from the Went Valley in Ackworth and was on business in Glasgow when I got what is probably gonna be the only chance I will ever get to do this....Glasgow should be proud cos I easy found the Kelvin Walkway from the city centre and walked 4 glorious miles up the river past the Botanic Gardens, old flint mills, locks, weirs, disused rail crossings, and up to Maryhill Park and the trig which gives views north to the Campsie Fells that are worth anything to see. Trig is just in the park for you to soak it all for yourself - enjoy x

In good condition along with the lovely park in which it sits. I do hope that the forthcoming budget squeezes to make up for the predations of the robbing banks does not mean that Glasgow will neglect its parks. They are wonderful! Still no ned fouling, and in great condition. Went up from the flats to the north.

Good condition pillar with intact spider and, surprisingly, intact cap! FB faces south with north and west sightholes still open. For an urban trig with a scheme nearby, graffiti-free and no broken glass round the base. Good views to the north. Also, if you move about 100m west, good views to the south including Glasgow Uni tower. Parked on Acre Road across from the university buildings and headed up the hill via Acre Drive. Easy access. All in all, quite a satisfying pillar!

Surprisingly little graffiti on this pillar, despite its position and the proliferation of it elsewhere on the footpaths, benches, every available surface. BSM style flush bracket and even bigger surprise is the intact spider. Some good long range views to the Campsie Fells. Done as part of the West Highland Way, using the Kelvin Walkway link path from Glasgow.

SouthWest highpoint of the park with a view to distant Dumgoyne and Campsies.. a touch of grafitti but otherwise fine with North and West sights open. The last of my accidentally sequential flushbrackets for today ;-)

First visit. To record FB number. Trig 12 of 12 for the day. Anti-clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Glasgow Queen Street station. The pillar was completed 28th February 1946 costing £4.0s.1d. In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NS77/T101 in the Glasgow secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1969. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in November 1971. Public park. It was dark by the time I got here.
