Parked on Church Hill. Took the public right of way (PRoW) into the Meeching Down park. Once in the park, left the PRoW and crossed the park onto the northern side, where the pillar can be found within a clearing within the wood. The cap was missing, so I replaced it. There was some hardened residue around the circular rim from where an asphalt plug once replaced the original cap. Needed to knock that out in order to replace the cap, which I did with 10mm cold chisel and a club hammer. The old asphalt plug can be seen in @Griefmiester's photo dated 21.9.05, but is then reported missing by @AlanGrove just 2 weeks later on 4.10.05

Parked roadside by a school (TQ 4420 0111). Trig sits in scrubby woodland to N side of community grass land, a few young families enjoying picnics etc - seemed a miserable and unkempt place but takes all sorts. Pillar has minor chipping to top edges; asphalt residue around the rim of the open central tube; rear sight hole open. No views.
