Easy walk up from good parking to SE. Plenty of dog walkers around on this gentle grassy slope to summit. Trig has memorial plaque on rear "FREDERICK PAINTER / 1887 - 1950 / WHO SO LOVED / THIS PLACE". Pillar has original cap, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes open. Extensive 360deg moorland views.

Major detour off the Two Moors Way via Corndon to visit. Luckily, the mist that had been down all day lifted just prior to my arrival. Descended north into Chagford down the steep path through the bracken.

This pillar is located on the north-eastern edge of Dartmoor. Not a particularly strenuous climb under normal conditions but today it was made a lot worse by the howling gale and rain squalls. Come to think of it… I suppose that IS normal conditions for Dartmoor. At 1325ft above sea level, this was the highest I climbed for a trig-point all week. Apart from being very ‘weather-beaten’, the pillar is in good condition with all the metalwork in place. The centre plug is of the shallow indented variety. It was dark and wet today so the views were less than impressive but on a bright, clear day, they would be very good indeed.
