Footpath to this one is very steep and I was glad of the hand rail. Walked around edge of crop to get to trig. Looks like rain.

Parking a little awkward on A3057, but room for 1 or 2 cars at junc with FP at Lower Brook for short (450m) walk up hill to trig. Pillar in field of young cereal crop, easy to walk between rows at present. Original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes closed. Extensive views over Test Valley in arc from SW to N; other dirctions obscured by curvature of hill top and tree line.

In the middle of a field left barren near a decaying farm building. Views are as near to spectacular as the Test Valley gets. Strange choice of location - 100m south and the trig would have been visible from far more highpoints, including the Isle of Wight. How were the trig positions chosen?
